Mom Accused of Stealing Credit Card, Making Son Sign for Purchases

Shorewood woman claims she used the card to help her son buy items for homecoming, but can't explain why goods included women's shoes and tights.

A 43-year-old Shorewood woman is facing charges after she allegedly stole a credit card and made her 14-year-old son scan and sign for transactions used with it.

Dion S. Crosley was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court Tuesday with two counts of unauthorized use of personal identification. If convicted, she faces up to 12 years in prison and $20,000 in fines.

Crosley used the stolen credit card on Sept. 19 to purchase $248 worth of items at Boston Store at Mayfair Mall and $234 worth of items at Pick ‘n Save, 1123 N. Van Buren.  

Police investigators went to both stores and reviewed surveillance video showing Crosley purchase multiple items from each store, but hand the credit card to her son, who would scan and sign for the purchases.

She told police the purchases were to help her son buy items for homecoming. However, she couldn’t explain why purchases at Boston Store included women’s shoes and tights.
