Shorewood Police Lead on Car Chase after Milwaukee Woman Flees during Traffic Stop

Police pursued the car as far as East Keefe Avenue before ending the car chase.

Local authorities are on the look-out for a 37-year-old Milwaukee woman after she evaded Shorewood police during a traffic stop Wednesday.

Police pulled over a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am in the 1000 block of East Capitol Drive around noon for expired plates, but the traffic stop didn't last long as the driver pulled away, while an officer returned to his squad to run the car's VIN number.

The driver took off westbound on Capitol Drive and police pursued the driver as far as East Keefe Avenue in Milwaukee, attempting to make another traffic stop, but had to cut the chase short, as the driver showed no signs of stopping.

Milwaukee police records revealed the car was stolen, according to the report.
