Shorewood Police Investigating Odd Burglary Incident

Overnight on Saturday, an apartment was burglarized around the same time the building's manager says a man grabbed 13 sets of keys and illegally entered at least one apartment.

Police say a unit in a Shorewood apartment building was burglarized sometime overnight on Saturday, with several pieces of electronics stolen.

The victim told police the theft occurred sometime between 5 p.m. Saturday and 10:30 a.m. Sunday at her apartment in the 3900 block of North Maryland Avenue. A Dell laptop, DVD player and iPod were stolen.

Within the same time period at the same apartment building, the building manager told police that a man entered the building, broke into the boiler room, grabbed 13 sets of apartment keys and illegally entered at least one unit.

The man identified in the report as illegally entering the building was taken into custody on an open warrant at on Monday, according to the police report.

Police wouldn't comment on whether the two incidents are related. Nor would they give details on why the man was taken into custody.
