Shorewood House Burglarized while Residents Are Home

Police say two purses were stolen from the dining room table of a North Stowell Avenue home while its residents were in another room.

Shorewood's 12th home burglary in just a little more than a month came Thursday as a home was illegally entered while residents were in another room.

The burglary occurred sometime between 5 and 7 p.m. at a home on the 4400 block of North Stowell Avenue.

Police say two purses were snatched from a dining room table. Entry was gained through an unlocked back door.

The purses contained two wallets, $100 in cash, a $200 iPod Nano, cell phone, medication and credit cards that were used to rack up fraudulent charges.

Residents told police they didn't see the culprit(s), but the family dog started barking when the home was illegally entered.
