A Shorewood home was burglarized and car stolen from the property Monday, while the homeowner was sleeping in the house, police say.
Police believe entry was gained to the home by removing the screen of an unlocked kitchen window. A $200 iPhone, $313 in cash and a Pontiac GrandAm were taken from the residence in the 3500 block of North Murray Avenue.
Police found the stolen Pontiac abandoned in an alleyway in the same block.
A neighbor called police Monday saying they found the car parked in the alleyway, and thought it might have rolled out of a garage. Police later tracked the car to the home.
