Shorewood Church Targeted in Burglary

Items worth more than $1,200 were taken Thursday during a burglary at Shorewood's Luther Memorial Chapel.

More than $1,200 in property was taken Thursday during a burglary at a Shorewood church.

Sometime between 3:30 and 5:30 p.m., Luther Memorial Chapel, 3833 N. Maryland Ave., was entered and $1,260 worth of property was taken, according to police.

Police say a laptop, Apple iPhone, leather bag, books and a Bible were snatched from an office in the church.

Church officials told police the office was locked, but police say there were no signs of forced entry.

A police investigation is ongoing.
