Senior Walks Out of West Allis Care Facility, Found in Shorewood Hours Later

A staff member from the West Allis senior home noticed the 67-year-old man standing a near busy intersection in Shorewood Monday morning.

A senior citizen with mental health issues walked out of a care facility in West Allis on Sunday night and found his way to the intersection of East Capitol Drive and North Oakland Avenue in Shorewood.

A staff worker from the West Allis facility was driving through the area about 11 a.m. Monday and recognized the man standing on the corner. Police say he was just standing on the corner with a bottle of soda in his hand.

He had taken a Milwaukee County Transit bus to Shorewood, but authorities aren't sure what he did for the 12-14 hours he was missing.

The man was transported back to the care facility by staff and Shorewood police notified West Allis police that he had been found.

Shorewood police say they don't know the care facility in West Allis from which the man escaped.
