Cell Phone Taken in Strong-Arm Robbery on Downer Avenue Last Weekend

A Shorewood man was treated for minor injuries after he told police he was punched in the face while riding his bicycle and forced to hand over his cell phone.

A Shorewood man says he was punched in the face and his cell phone stolen in a strong-arm robbery Saturday.

The victim told police he was riding his bicycle in the 4000 block of North Downer Avenue when a man jumped out of a tan 4-door sedan, punched him in the face and demanded his cell phone.

The robber grabbed a $280 Blackberry, jumped back into the sedan and fled southbound on Downer Avenue.

The victim was treated for a swollen lip.

Police say they have no suspects in the robbery.

, when a man parked in an SUV ran across Downer Avenue, pushed a woman off her bicycle and demanded her cell phone.

The suspect, without the cell phone, later retreated back to his car and drove off.
