Report: ACLU Looking Into Possible Racial Profiling of Shorewood Track Coach

Shorewood police say they didn't know Dominic Newman's race before they pulled him over.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Wisconsin is looking into whether race played a role in a police incident with Shorewood track coach Dominic Newman, WISN 12 is reporting.

The early Monday morning incident started with a 911 call from a Shorewood resident who heard a car alarm go off. It wound up with Newman, who was driving his wife's car, being pulled over in Whitefish Bay, ordered out of the car, handcuffed at gunpoint and advised he was being arrested for grand theft auto.

Newman’s car alarm would sound for several seconds every time he opened his door.
