Police Urge Residents to Lock Doors, Report Thefts
In addition to two recent burglaries, Shorewood residents have also reported the theft of five bicycles and other items from unlocked garages.
With two burglaries and several thefts in the past week, Shorewood Police Chief David Banaszynski is reminding residents to lock their doors and to report all suspicious activity.
"The best thing we have is neighbors," Banaszynski said. "We need homeowners to keep their doors locked, and we also need neighbors to help out and report anything that doesn't look right. They know their neighborhood best."
Banaszynski said the police department will be demonstrating crime prevention techniques at National Night Out, which will be held on Thursday from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Village Center, 3920 N. Murray Blvd.
