Shorewood police say two men lured a Jimmy John's delivery driver to a home in the 3800 block of North Maryland Avenue late Saturday night and beat him during an attempted strong-arm robbery.

The robbery occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m. Two men called the sandwich shop and placed a fictitious order for delivery and once the driver arrived, he was attacked, according to police.

The driver told police when he was walking up to the home to deliver the food the men ambushed him and started to beat him. He fought for about a minute before a passerby scared off the robbers.

No weapons were seen or implied.

The victim sustained injuries to his head and face, but didn't require medical attention.
