Police Report: Two Arrested for Possession of Pot during Traffic Stops

A roundup of the latest from the Shorewood police reports.

A 31-year-old Brown Deer man was arrested Friday for possession of marijuana after police stopped him in the 1000 block of East Capitol Drive for driving with a broken headlight.

Police say they smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car during the traffic stop at about 1:10 a.m. and later found 29 grams of pot and a blue glass pipe with marijuana residue during a search.

Another drug arrest occurred on Sunday, when police pulled over a car in the 4000 block of the Estabrook Parkway for speeding and took a 24-year-old Sheboygan man into custody for drunken driving and possession of marijuana.

Police say the driver appeared intoxicated and they conducted a field sobriety test, which the driver failed. Police also found marijuana in the car during a search. The man was also cited for driving with a suspended license.

The man had a .12 blood alcohol level and it was his first operating while intoxicated offense.

Also in the police reports:

  • A $200 green Trek bicycle was reported stolen from Shorewood High School, 1701 E. Capitol Dr., on Wednesday. Police say a cable lock was cut during the theft.
  • A vehicle owner told police $2,500 in damage was done to the paint of the car while it was parked near apartments in the 1700 block of East River Park Drive on Friday morning.
  • A resident in the 4400 block of North Woodburn Street found marijuana pipe and plastic bag containing pot in their backyard on Saturday. The resident handed the marijuana and pipe over to police.
