Police Report: Stolen Car Recovered Hours Later; 3 Arrested Driving Stolen Car

A roundup of the latest from the Shorewood police log.

A 2002 Ford Focus was stolen around 5:30 p.m. on Monday in the 4000 block of North Oakland Avenue, but recovered by police a few hours later around 10 p.m. in the 1900 block of East Kensington Boulevard.

The car was unlocked with the keys inside at the time of theft. There was no damage to the car following its recovery.

  • Three Waukesha men were arrested March 12 after police realized they were driving a stolen car. Police say the men, aged 27, 24 and 31, were driving through Shorewood when it became apparent they were in a car reported stolen from Waukesha. Police conducted a high-risk stop in the 1800 block of East Edgewood Avenue. One of the suspects was transported to a local hospital for medical condition related to patches he had on his arm and the other two were handed over to Waukesha police.
  • Seven packs of Duracell brand batteries, valued at $41, were reported stolen from Walgreens, 4081 N. Oakland Ave., on Friday. Police surveyed the area for a suspect with negative findings.
  • A Shorewood man called police Saturday to report his social security number was used to fraudulently obtain $9,090 worth of goods and services.
  • A Shorewood woman reported to police Saturday her personal information was used to file a tax return in her name. She told police she realized the return had been filed after the Internal Revenue Service called with questions about a tax filing.
