Police Report: Shorewood Woman Found Up the Pole, Crashed into a Light Pole

A roundup of the latest from the Shorewood police reports.

Police found a 63-year-old Shorewood woman uninjured but highly intoxicated Wednesday after she crashed her car into a light pole near the intersection of North Lake Drive and North Shepard Avenue. 

Police were patrolling the area when they found the woman sitting in her car, smacked into a light pole, at about 4:43 p.m. The woman appeared intoxicated, slurring her speech, police say. She failed a field sobriety test and her blood alcohol level registered at .28, more than three times the legal limit.

The woman was arrested for drunken driving. It’s her first offense.

  • A 34-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested Thursday after police say he was found with two stolen GPS units and a stolen bicycle. A witness called police to report a suspicious person walking around the area and trying car doors. When police arrived they found him in possession of the stolen items. Police say the bicycle had been stolen from , 3565 N. Morris Blvd.
  • A 24-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for drunken driving after police pulled him over for speeding in the 3900 block of North Oakland Avenue early Wednesday morning. Police say the man smelled of alcohol and appeared confused during the traffic stop at about 2:21 a.m. He later failed a field sobriety test and registered a .20 blood alcohol level. It's the man's first offense.
  • A 58-year-old Brown Deer man was arrested Thursday after stuffing his pants pockets with $27 worth of Red Bull energy drinks and leaving , 4145 N. Oakland Ave., without paying. Police caught up with and arrested the man in the grocery store's parking lot.
  • A catalytic converter was reported stolen from a car parked in a parking lot at 2100 E. Capitol Dr. sometime between 6 on 9 p.m. on Tuesday. The vehicle owner told police it will cost $543 to replace.
  • Keys were once again stolen from the boiler room of an apartment building in the 3900 block of East Maryland Avenue, on Monday. A few weeks ago, the Police say apartment tenants were notified of the key thefts. The room was unlocked at the time of the theft, police say.
  • A 25-year-old Shorewood man was arrested Monday after he concealed two cans of Gerber Good Start baby formula in a plastic bag and left Pick ‘n Save, 4145 N. Oakland Ave., without paying. Police say he fled on foot and was later taken into police custody near the intersection of East Capitol Drive and North Morris Boulevard. The formula is valued at $33.
  • Police say two men stole $150 worth of alcohol from Pick ‘n Save, 4145 N. Oakland Ave., on Tuesday. Police have no suspects.
  • A license plate was reported stolen from a car parked in the 2000 block of East Beverly Avenue on Tuesday.
