Police Report: Local Man Overdoses on Heroin; Punch Thrown after Heated Political Discussion

A roundup of the latest from the Shorewood police reports.

It wouldn’t be the first time a conversation about politics turned sour.

A Shorewood man learned that the hard way Thursday after leaving , 4121 N. Wilson Dr., around 11:47 p.m. and fielding a punch to the face from the man he got into a heated political discussion with.

The victim sustained a small cut near his right eye, but refused medical attention or to file a formal complaint.

  • An unknown Good Samaritan transported a Shorewood man to the hospital after he overdosed on heroin on Milwaukee's east side on Saturday. Police say the man was driving with his parents, when he jumped out of a moving car, ran and jumped over several fences, and shot up the narcotics. The man used the heroin to cope with anxiety and panic attacks about starting mental health treatment. Police say the man was dropped off in front of a local hospital, where he was found unconscious.
  • A Shorewood woman called police Saturday after she says she was walking in the 4400 block of Estabrook Parkway and a man driving by in a van stopped, started yelling profanities at her and said he was going to kill her. Police were unable to locate the van.
  • A wallet was reported stolen from and subsequently $608 in fraudulent charges racked up to a credit card on Thursday. The manager of the bank at 3970 N. Oakland Ave. reported the wallet was taken from the business around 5 p.m. and said there was also $40 in the wallet. The unwanted charges to the credit card were made at Target.
  • A 53-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested Thursday for being behind the wheel of a car while intoxicated after police found him sleeping in his vehicle in the 4100 block of North Maryland Avenue. The man had a .19 blood alcohol content and was ultimately transferred to the Milwaukee County Criminal Justice Facility.
  • A Shorewood home in the 3500 block of North Sheppard Avenue was evacuated Saturday after high levels of carbon monoxide were found in the home. The residents were transported to a local hospital after North Shore Firefighters arrived on scene around 4:49 a.m.
  • Police ticketed a man for obstruction after he tried to put his bicycle into another man’s car trunk during a traffic stop. A Shorewood officer was conducting a traffic stop in the 4500 block of Estabrook Parkway Saturday, when a man approached the driver of the stopped car and proceeded to take apart his bike and put it in the car’s trunk. The officer asked the man to move away from car until he was finished with his stop, but the man refused and said he would give the officer five minutes to complete the stop.
  • A screen was pushed out of the window of a home in the 4300 block of North Alpine Avenue sometime prior to 4 p.m. on Thursday, causing $20 in damage. Police say it may have been part of an attempted home burglary.
