Police Report: More than $3,000 in Tools Stolen from Garage; Car Break-in

A roundup of the latest from the Shorewood police log.

More than $3,000 worth of tools were reported stolen on Tuesday from a garage in the 4000 block of North Downer Avenue.

The theft occurred sometime between Saturday and Tuesday. Using an unknown tool, a rear window on the garage was removed to gain entry. 

The tools belonged to a contractor, police say.

Also in the police report:

  • An unlocked car parked in the 1900 block of East Kenmore Place on Wednesday was illegally entered and $75 worth of items — including a backpack, bottle of cologne and other items — were stolen. The theft occurred sometime between 2:30 and 7:54 a.m.
  • Police are investigating two women who passed a fraudulent prescription for Oxycodone at Thompson’s Serv-U Pharmacy, 1421 E. Capitol Dr., 10:53 a.m. on Thursday. Police aren’t releasing details on the incident.
  • Police say two women dined at Oakcrest Tavern, 4022 N. Oakland Ave., around 6 p.m. on Thursday and ditched without paying their bill. The two were later stopped by police in the 1600 block of North Linwood Avenue, ticketed for not paying the bill and released. Police aren't releasing any more details on the incident.
