Police Report: Milwaukee Man Nabbed for Drunken Driving after Clocked at Twice Speed Limit

A roundup of the latest from the Shorewood police reports.

Police arrested a 30-year-old Milwaukee man for drunken driving Sunday morning, after they observed him driving 58 mph down East Capitol Drive β€” in a 25-mph zone.

At 3:56 a.m., police clocked the man speeding near Capitol Drive and North Murray Avenue, and eventually pulled him over in the 3900 block of North Ridgefield Court.

Police say the suspect smelled of alcohol and when he was asked where he was headed, he responded he was in Glendale headed home.

He refused to perform a on-scene sobriety test or submit to a breath test.

He was also cited for speeding, driving without a driver’s license, insurance or proper registration.

It’s his first operating while intoxicated offense.

Also in the police reports:

  • A resident in an apartment building in the 3500 block of North Oakland Avenue phoned police after he says a man tried to enter his apartment unit. When police arrived, they found someone had smashed out a window on an interior foyer door. The incident occurred sometime between 10:05 and 10:20 p.m.
  • The driver-side window of a car was smashed out and a $130 GPS unit and $10 in cash taken while it was parked in the 3800 block of North Oakland Avenue on Aug. 7. The theft occurred sometime between 9 p.m. on Aug. 6 and 8 p.m. the following day. There was about $150 in damage to the window, according to police.
  • A resident reported $400 in damage to the side mirror and window trim on this car on Aug. 8. It occurred sometime between 4 p.m. on Aug. 7 and 3 a.m. the next morning, while it was parked in the 4300 block of North Marlborough Avenue.
  • A $475 bicycle was reported stolen from a garage in the 4300 block of North Woodburn Street sometime between 8:45 and 9 p.m. on Thursday.
