Police Report: Milwaukee Man Picked Up Hours after Committing Two Car Break-ins

Police stopped and arrested a 40-year-old Milwaukee man early Friday morning, just hours after he had allegedly broken into two cars, and stolen several items including a cell phone and two iPods.

The man was spotted riding his bicycle on the sidewalk near North Oakland Avenue and East Beverly Avenue at about 1:30 a.m., police say. The man’s information was run to a police database revealing he had a felony warrant for his arrest.

Police searched the man and found him in possession of several items they tied to two car break-ins in the 4200 block of North Maryland Avenue earlier that night. Police recovered two iPods, a cell phone, Coach purse, Blackberry charger and $24 in cash.

The man was transported to Milwaukee County Jail and local police have recommended charges for entry to auto to the district attorney’s office.

  • A $125 Garmin GPS was reported stolen during a car break-in sometime between 8:30 p.m. on Friday and 11:35 a.m. on Saturday in the 4100 block of North Oakland Avenue. Police say a window was smashed out of the car to gain entry.
  • A rock was thrown through the rear window of a car parked in the 4300 block of North Wilson Drive on Sunday, police say. The stone caused about $600 in damage to the window and car’s trunk.
  • White marker was used to paint graffiti on a second-floor exterior doorway of an apartment building in the 400 block of North Oakland Avenue on Sunday. Police say the graffiti caused about $50 in damage.
