Police Report: Man Doesn't Get Cell Phone in Attempted Strong-arm Robbery

A Shorewood woman sustained minor injuries during an attempted strong-arm robbery in the 3900 block of North Downer Avenue on Saturday.

The victim told police she was riding her bicycle on the sidewalk on Downer Avenue at about 9 a.m. when a man parked in the same block jumped out of a SUV, ran across the street, pushed her off her bicycle and demanded she hand over her cell phone.

The suspect, without the cell phone, later retreated back to his car and drove off.

The victim sustained several small cuts to her knee and ankle.

  • A woman reported her purse stolen from , 4156 N. Oakland Ave., on Thursday along with a credit card and $20 in cash. The victim told police she realized her purse had been taken once a fraudulent charge of $44 made at a gas station in Milwaukee showed up on her credit card account.
  • A 19-year-old Shorewood woman was arrested for underage drinking Thursday in the 1800 block of East Menlo Boulevard. Police responded to a residence in the block after receiving a report of a woman screaming.
  • Police arrested a 32-year-old man and a 30-year-old man, both from Milwaukee, on Friday for stealing metal items from a scrap pile in the 1000 block of East Kensington Boulevard. Police made the arrests after receiving a report of two men putting metal items into the back of a van. The metal was recovered police say.
  • A $625 Jamis brand hybrid bicycle and $45 Kryptonite brand lock were stolen from an unlocked garage in the 2400 block of East Stratford Court on Sunday.
