Police Report: Fraud, Theft, Report of Sexual Abuse

A roundup of the latest from the Shorewood police reports.

A 19-year-old man and 14-year-old boy, both of Shorewood, were arrested for fraud Thursday, after a Shorewood woman called police to report fraudulent charges to her checking account.

The woman told police her son, the 19-year-old, had taken checks from her home in the 2500 block of East Wood Place, written five fraudulent checks totaling $430 and then cashed them at , 3970 N. Oakland Ave.

The two suspects were tracked down and arrested later that day.

  • Two Shorewood men weren’t seriously injured and declined to press charges after being assaulted Saturday. The two men told police they were walking in the 3900 block of North Maryland Avenue when they noticed a woman across the street yelling for help and struggling to get away from a man. The man pulled the woman into an apartment building and the men, concerned for the woman, followed them and peeked into an apartment window. A shirtless man then busted out of the apartment building, started punching and yelling at the men for looking into his window. Police say the fight was over when they arrived and the woman and man who where struggling were siblings.
  • A Shorewood man reported Friday that someone had informed him of ongoing sexual abuse of a 4-year-old girl by a parent. Shorewood police said the incident is part of an ongoing investigation by Milwaukee police.
  • A Shorewood woman dialed 911 Saturday with an emergency — she couldn’t remember the password to unlock her cell phone. Dispatchers informed police the woman asked for help unlocking her phone. Police responded to find the subject highly intoxicated. Police advised her of the correct use of 911.
  • A Shorewood man reported the theft of a $100 black and silver Verizon LG touch flip phone while he was playing basketball Saturday in the 4000 block of North Farwell Avenue.
  • Several pieces of lawn furniture were taken from several random homes and later found in the front lawn of a home in the 4000 block of North Prospect Avenue Thursday.
  • A tree fell onto a 2010 Jeep Friday in front of a home in the 1300 block of East Elmdale Court. Police are waiting on a damage estimate from the car owner.

The above items are from reports from local police departments. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
