Police Report: Firearm Stolen during Car Break-in; Apartment Burglary

A Nighthawk 1911 pistol was reported stolen during a car break-in May 3.

Sometime between 10 p.m. and midnight an open garage in the 4400 block of North Stowell Avenue was entered and the $3,500 pistol taken from an unlocked car’s glove box.

Additionally, $10 in coins were stolen from the car.

Also in the police report:

  • A garage in the 4400 block of North Ardmore Avenue was burglarized, with $3,330 in property stolen. Sometime between 11:30 a.m. on May 4 and 9:20 a.m. on May 5, two bicycles, an air compressor and two saws were stolen.
  • A man suspected of drunken driving passed field sobriety tests, but was cited for concealing a butterfly knife without a proper permit. Police initially pulled him over for a defective tail lamp, and say he smelled of alcohol. Before starting sobriety tests, an officer asked if the driver had any weapons on his person, and that’s when police found the switchblade butterfly-style knife.
  • An unlocked apartment unit in the River Park Apartments, 1600 E. River Park Ct., was burglarized, sometime between 11 a.m. on May 5 and 2:30 a.m. on May 6. About $210 in cash was stolen.
  • A Texas man was arrested for operating while intoxicated May 5 after police found him sleeping in his parked car in the 1600 block of East Kenmore Place. Police conducted a welfare check on the man, whom they say appeared intoxicated and smelled like alcohol. He failed field sobriety tests; police are awaiting the results of a blood test to determine his blood alcohol content at the time of the arrest. Police later found a firearm in his car during a search, but he was not cited as a result. It is his first OWI offense.
  • An unlocked car was illegally entered May 3 while parked in the 1700 block of East Olive Street. About $2 in change was stolen.
  • A Milwaukee man was cited for disorderly conduct on May 4 after he started yelling obscenities while in the street in the 1600 block of East Marion Street. He as later transported to St. Mary’s Hospital for a shoulder injury.
  • Four bottles of liquor valued at $152 was stolen from Camp Bar, 4044 N. Oakland Ave., on Monday. Police say a man was seen on surveillance video entering the bar through a side door off an alleyway at 3:45 p.m.
  • Police received a report Wednesday of $200 in laundry being stolen from the laundry room in the River Park Apartments, 1600 E. River Park Ct. The theft occurred sometime between 8 and 10 p.m.
  • An Apple iPhone was reported stolen from the boys locker room at Shorewood High School, 1701 E. Capitol Dr. The phone is valued at $400. 
  • A $700 tan Trek 700 12-speed bicycle was reported stolen from a garage in the 4100 block of North Morris Boulevard sometime between 12:30  and 9:30 a.m. on May 5.
