Police Report: Drunken Woman Crashes Car, Reports it Stolen; Craigslist Scam

A roundup of the latest from the Shorewood police log.

A 33-year-old Illinois woman was cited for obstructing and forced to pay a $500 tow bill after police say she crashed her car into a wooded area off the Estabrook Parkway, then walked away and reported it stolen.

Police received a report of a minivan stolen sometime overnight on Tuesday from the area near North Oakland Avenue and East Elmdale Court.

The car was, however, found by police in the Estabrook wooded area. Police say things weren’t adding up, and when they questioned the woman, she admitted she was driving drunk, crashed her car, then walked to her friend’s house and reported the car stolen.
