Police Report: Drunken Driving Arrest; SHS Student Admits to Smoking Pot

A roundup of the latest from the Shorewood police reports.

A 55-year-old Shorewood woman was arrested for drunken driving on Sunday after police pulled her over in the 1900 block of East Capitol Drive for defective headlights.

Police say the driver appeared intoxicated and later admitted to drinking earlier that night. She failed a sobriety test but refused to submit to a breath test.

It’s the woman's first offense.

Also in the police report:

  • Shorewood High School’s assistant principal called police Friday to report a student under the influence of marijuana. The student later admitted to smoking pot and the district said it would be handling the incident in-house, police say.
  •  A 36-year-old man and 42-year-old woman, both from Milwaukee, were arrested for walking out of , 4081 N. Oakland Ave., with $63 worth of merchandise on Tuesday. The items included Tide laundry detergent, toilet paper and paper towels.
  • A Shorewood Department of Public Works employee reported graffiti on the rolling door to the pavilion at , 4000 N. Lake Dr., on Monday. The numbers “900!” and “908!” were sprayed in the red, white and blue. Police say they don’t have a damage estimate at this point.
  • A Shorewood man told police Monday his car was keyed sometime overnight, causing $900 in damage. All four doors, the rear tailgate and left quarter panel was damaged as it was parked on the street in the 4400 block of North Oakland Avenue.
  • A resident in the 4200 block of North Downer Avenue told police Sunday someone kicked the front door to their house, causing $300 in damage.
