Police Report: Drunken Driving Arrest; Driver Busts through Barricade to Get to Fourth of July Parade

A roundup of the latest from the Shorewood police reports.

Police arrested a 27-year-old Shorewood man early Saturday morning for drunken driving after he was caught speeding.

The man was pulled over in the 3500 block of North Oakland Avenue at 2:56 a.m. Police say the man was noticeably intoxicated and later failed a field sobriety test.

His blood alcohol level registered at .11. It’s the man’s first operating while intoxicated offense.

  • Police say a woman wasn't cited when she drove through a barricade at the intersection of East Kensington Boulevard and North Cramer Street on Wednesday. The woman told police she was trying to get her daughter to the Fourth of July parade on time.
  • A Shorewood man wasn't seriously injured when a pit-bull dog bit his left calf while in ’s parking lot, 4145 N. Oakland Ave., around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The victim told police he didn’t get the dog owner’s information before leaving.
  • Pick ‘n Save security notified police Wednesday they observed two men on surveillance video concealing several unknown products and leaving the store without paying. Police are investigating.
  • Clerks at , 1515 E. Capitol Dr., called police on Saturday to report that a woman came into the store with approximately 50 DVDs, and asked them if they wanted them. She said she no longer needed the videos because she wasn’t going to watch TV anymore, the clerks told police.
  • A $50 Weber grill was reported stolen from the backyard of a home in the 3500 block of North Cramer Street Sunday.
  • A $200 black and red Specialized brand mountain bike was reported stolen from the backyard of a home in the 1200 block of East Olive Street Friday.
  • A Shorewood woman told police her wallet was stolen from her office at 4465 N. Oakland Ave., sometime between 3:10 p.m. and 5:11 p.m. on July 3. A credit card from the woman’s wallet was used to rack up $435 in fraudulent charges at several Milwaukee-area gas stations credit card, and $275 in cash was in the wallet at the time of the theft.
  • A $250 red and white Trek mountain bicycle was reported stolen from a garage in the 3900 block of North Stowell Avenue on Wednesday. Police weren’t sure whether the bicycle or garage was locked.
  • Police are still gathering information on a theft from , 1701 E. Capitol Dr., on July 2. Police say a refrigerator was damaged and items stolen, though police didn’t have details on the stolen property.
