A 29-year-old Shorewood man was arrested for drunken driving Dec. 12 after police say he crashed into and came to a rest on a light pole near the intersection North Farwell Avenue and East Kensington Boulevard, and found passed out behind the front wheel, with his car on top of the pole.
Police say they found the man asleep behind the wheel of his car. A strong odor of alcohol was detected by police and he had slurred speech.
The man was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. Police are awaiting the results of a blood test to determine his blood alcohol content at the time of the accident. It’s his first such offense.
The man was also cited for failing to wear a seatbelt, inattentive driving and deviating from traffic lanes.

- Police arrested three Slinger female teenagers aged 19, 18 and 16 Saturday after they found drug paraphernalia and open alcohol bottles in their car during a traffic stop. A police officer was driving south in the 3800 block of North Morris Boulevard when he observed a car traveling the other way on Morris without headlights on. The officer observed an occupant on the passenger side duck down as if she was stuffing something under the seat. After a search of the car, a glass pipe with a green substance, an open bottle of alcohol, and another pipe with black residue were found.
- A 16-year-old boy and 18-year-old man, both from Milwaukee, were arrested for stealing bicycles from two separate garages in the 1600 block of East Menlo Boulevard, Dec. 13. The 16-year-old was also cited for underage possession of cigarettes.
- A Shorewood man called police Dec. 14 to report whomever had his daughter’s stolen cell phone had called him and offered to return the property for a fee of $25. The suspect told the man he had purchased the phone from some kids for $25 and would sell it back for the same price. The Shorewood man told police they agreed to meet at Culver's in Shorewood, 1325 E. Capitol Dr., but local police said to report the phone stolen to Milwaukee police, where the theft occurred.
- A juvenile sustained minor injuries after a driver exited the parking lot at Shorewood High School, 1701 E. Capitol Dr., took a left turn and struck him. The juvenile was treated at the scene for injuries to the knee and forehand. The driver was ticketed for failure to yield and dirty windows that obstructed his view.
