Police Report: Authorities Wary of Man's Claim He Was Robbed by Homeless Man

A roundup of the latest from the Shorewood police reports.

 A 47-year-old Shorewood woman was arrested for drunken driving Friday after police pulled her over around 11:30 p.m. for speeding in the 3900 block of North Oakland Avenue.

Police say the woman failed a field sobriety test, but refused to consent to a breathalyzer.

It’s the woman’s first such offense.

That same night, police also arrested a driver for operating while intoxicated after colliding with a stopped but occupied car parked in front of a home in the 3800 block of North Murray Avenue.

The driver's information wasn't available Monday.

Also in the police report:

  • Police say they’re some inconsistencies in a Shorewood man’s story that a homeless man robbed him Sunday in the 4300 block of East Wildwood Avenue. The alleged victim told police he was smoking a cigarette when a man approached him and demanded he hand over the hooded sweatshirt he was wearing. Police say the alleged victim did have bruising and injuries to one arm.
  • A 24-year-old Milwaukee woman and 43-year-old Glendale woman were arrested for retail theft Friday after security observed the two concealing alcohol. Police arrived at the grocer located at 4145 N. Oakland Ave. to arrest the two before they could leave with $28 worth of liquor.
  • Two hanging baskets and box planters were reported stolen from , 1305 E. Capitol Dr., Friday. The total value of the items is $450.
  • A $40 dining ware set was reported stolen Thursday from an apartment storage locker in the 1500 block of East Capitol Drive. The locker was secured at the time and pried open, police say.
  • A 26-year-old Shorewood woman was cited for disorderly conduct Saturday after police witnessed the woman yelling obscenities at another woman, near the intersection East Kensington Boulevard and North Oakland Avenue. Police say the suspect was highly intoxicated.
  • Police were unable to locate a man Friday who filled up his gray pick-up with $25 worth of gasoline and left the at 1315 E. Capitol Dr. without paying.
  • Sunday, a man pumped $53 worth of gasoline at BP gas station, 1315 E. Capitol Dr., and drove off without paying. Police say a license plate captured by surveillance video didn’t match a dark sedan used by the suspect.
