Police Report: 69-Year-Old Tries to Strike Cop with Cane; Man Fleeing Scene Tasered 3 Times

Police Tasered a 35-year-old Milwaukee man three times and took him into custody Saturday night after he fled the scene of a traffic stop and tried to hide in a bush.

Police responded to the 4000 block of North Morris Boulevard for a report of two men sitting in a car yelling and honking their horn.

Officers tracked down the car, with two men inside, and conducted a traffic stop in the 700 block of East Capitol Drive. Police later conducted field sobriety tests on the Milwaukee man, when they found cocaine on him.

That’s when the man fled, onto the nearby WTMJ4 TV station property. 

The other suspect fled the scene as police were apprehending the man that fled.

Police cited the man for operating while intoxicated, possession of a controlled substance and resisting.

  • A 69-year-old Shorewood man was arrested Saturday after police say he attempted to strike an officer with his cane as he was being apprehended for theft of a $2 bus transfer. The incident occurred near the intersection of East Capitol Drive and North Wilson Drive. Police say a Milwaukee County Transit Bus driver phoned in the theft complaint. The man was cited for disorderly conduct and obstructing an officer, and theft.
  • The front passenger window was smashed out and a $500 Coach wallet and $200 in cash taken during a car break-in Saturday in a parking lot on the Estabrook Parkway. The break-in occurred sometime between 2:45 and 3 p.m. and the car was locked. The victim told police credit cards were also stolen. 
  • Police are investigating a Shorewood woman’s report of an attempted burglary to her apartment in the 3500 block of North Oakland Avenue, by drilling out the deadbolt lock on her unit's door. The resident told police April 1 she was out of town for the weekend and returned to find the damage. She told police it appears entry was not gained to her apartment.
