Police Report: More Than 12 Grams of Pot Recovered during Traffic Stop

A roundup of the latest from the Shorewood police reports.

A 27-year-old Shorewood man was arrested Nov. 21, after police found 12.86 grams of marijuana in his car during a traffic stop.

The suspect was initially pulled over for speeding in the 3500 block of North Oakland Avenue at 2 a.m. and police smelled fresh marijuana in the car. They searched the car and found the marijuana in the glove box.

He was transported to the Shorewood Police Department station.

  • Shorewood police recovered a 1999 red Jeep Cherokee that was reported stolen on Nov. 19 from a driveway in the 1800 block of East Newton Avenue. The car was found in the 3400 block of North 35th Street in Milwaukee Nov. 21, but was stripped of the battery and steering column. Police returned the car to its owner.
  • A 27-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for theft Sunday after police witnessed him riding a bicycle on the sidewalk in the 1100 block of East Capitol Drive with a cable lock that had been cut wrapped around the bike’s frame. He told police his aunt had sent him to get the bicycle, but the aunt said that wasn’t true, when contacted by police. The bicycle is valued at $360.
  • called police Sunday to report that two men grabbed two cartons of Newport 100s and ran out of the store located at 4081 N. Oakland Ave. without paying. Police have no suspects at this time.
  • Two juveniles were spotted on surveillance video grabbing two Home Run Inn pizzas from , 4145 N Oakland Ave., on Nov. 22 and leaving through a rear emergency exit without paying. Police weren’t able to catch up with the juveniles. The two pizzas totaled $14.78.
  • Police observed graffiti on the west side of the Oak Leaf Trail Bridge Nov. 22. Black spray paint was used to write the words “AUDIT RED,” police say, which caused $100 in damage.
  • Walgreens called Shorewood police Wednesday after two women used a fraudulent check to purchase $187.25 worth of items at the store. The cashier became suspicious after they wrote another check to purchase cigarettes, which was denied by a check reader. As the women left the store with the $187.25 worth of items, the cashier noticed the check was a fake and ran out and told the woman to give back the merchandise, which they did. Police are still looking for the suspects.
  • A teal colored van pumped $30 worth of gasoline Wednesday at , 1513 E. Capitol Dr. and left without paying. Police have been unsuccessful locating the fuel thief.
  • Police cited four men on Saturday after they were found standing around a fire on after the beach was closed.
  • A Shorewood woman called police after she returned home in the 1800 block of East Edgewood Avenue on Friday to find her cordless phone missing and all of the pictures in her home turned face down. Police are investigating.
  • A $25 snowman was reported stolen Saturday from a front yard in the 4400 block of North Frederick Avenue.
