Police Report: Shorewood Woman Phones Authorities after Receiving Call from Prison Inmate

A roundup of the latest from the Shorewood police reports.

After receiving a collect call Tuesday from a state prison inmate, just hours after testifying in court against a current prisoner of the same prison, a concerned Shorewood woman phoned police.

She said she wanted the call documented by police in case the incident happened again or escalated.

  • A Shorewood man phoned police Monday after four fraudulent charges showed up on his credit card in the amount of $312. The charges were made sometime between Jan. 21 and Jan. 23, at four stores in Maryland.
  • A Shorewood woman told police Wednesday, her computer had been hacked and an email sent out to friends claiming she was strained in Spain and needed help. She also said personal information on her computer was either lost or stolen. Police advised the victim to monitor her financial accounts, closely.
  • Graffiti was reported on the Oak Leaf Trail Bridge, 1100 block of East Capitol Drive, Wednesday at about 5:10 p.m. The words “Audit Fed” were written in black spray paint on the southeast pillar of the bridge. Police estimated the damage at about $50 and notified the of the graffiti.
