Police Report: More than $1,000 Goes Missing from Gas Station Safe

Shorewood BP is out $1,134 after the cash went missing from the gas station's safe.

Police say store employee’s realized the money wasn’t in the safe Friday morning upon an armored truck arriving to pick it up. Clerks closing the station at 1513 E. Capitol Dr. on Thursday night were to place that day's money into the safe.

Police are investigating the incident. 

In other police news:

  • A 21-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for retail theft Sunday after police say he stole liquor from Pick 'n Save, 4145 N. Oakland Ave., and returned two hours later for more. Police responded to a report of a retail theft in progress and upon arriving arrested the man, whom had been detained by Pick ‘n Save security. Employees told police the man was observed concealing a bottle of Jim Beam and leaving the store without paying at 6:30 p.m. He returned around 8:50 p.m. and was observing slipping a bottle of Tequila into a grocery bag of purchased items. Police say the man admitted to both the thefts. 
  • Police say a woman passed a fraudulent prescription for Oxycodone pills at Thompson’s Pharmacy, 1421 E. Capitol Dr., on Jan. 15. An employee at the pharmacy became suspicious of the prescription because of past problems with fraud and called the prescribing doctor to verify the prescription was legitimate. The physician wasn’t immediately available, and the prescription was given back to the woman, whom left the pharmacy. The doctor later called back and verified the prescription was indeed fraudulent. A police investigation is ongoing.
  • A 44-year-old Milwaukee man was cited for disorderly conduct after urinating on a Shorewood building on Sunday. An officer was in the 1300 block of East Capitol Drive when he saw the man walk to the rear of a building and start urinating. He told the officer he was waiting for the city bus and couldn’t hold it any more.
