Police Investigating Strong-Arm Robberies of Two Food Delivery Drivers over Weekend

A Jimmy John's delivery driver, and Domino's Pizza driver, were lured to homes or apartments in Shorewood and ambushed. At least three suspects stole a pizza delivery driver's 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt Monday morning.

Shorewood police are investigating two incidents over the weekend where food delivery drivers were lured to locations in Shorewood and beaten in strong-arm robberies.

The latest of the two incidents occurred at approximately 12:35 on Monday morning. A Domino's Pizza delivery driver was attacked and beaten as he attempted to deliver to an apartment in the 3500 block of North Oakland Avenue.

The victim told police a gray or silver Chevrolet Impala pulled in front of his car and at least three subjects jumped out began to attack him. The suspects took keys to his 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt, then at least one of the suspects got into the Cobalt and the others got back into the Impala, and both vehicles fled south on Oakland Avenue into Milwaukee.

The delivery driver was transported to Columbia/St. Mary's Hospital for treatment of head and face injuries.

The second incident — late on Saturday night — occurred when two men lured a Jimmy John's delivery driver to a home in the 3800 block of North Maryland Avenue and beat him during an attempted strong-arm robbery.

The robbery occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m. Two men called the sandwich shop and placed a fictitious order for delivery and once the driver arrived, he was attacked, according to police.

The driver told police when he was walking up to the home to deliver the food the men ambushed him and started to beat him. He fought for about a minute before a passerby ended up scaring off the robbers.

No weapons were seen or implied.

The victim sustained injuries to his head and face, but didn't require medical attention. He described the men as black males in their 30s.
