Authorities are investigating a string of robberies on Milwaukee's east side, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Just blocks apart on Friday night, two women were robbed of their cell phones and purses and one sexually assaulted.

One of the victims, Lindsay Desplaines, told Patch media partners WISN she first heard footsteps behind her and then a man grabbed her from behind, told her to hand over property, pushed her to the ground and fondled

That incident occurred in the 2700 block of E. Park Place, but a half an hour later just blocks away, another woman reported a similar robbery, WISN reports.

Earlier that night, convenience store the Murray Pantry, was robbed by a suspect wielding a box cutter and cleaned out the cash register.
