NSFD Report: Firefighters Use 50 Gallons of Water to Wash Blood from Shorewood Street

The latest reports from the North Shore Fire Department.

The responded to a total of 116 calls for service, 91 EMS calls, and 25 fire and rescue calls from Oct. 3 to Oct. 9 throughout the North Shore.

Here is a summary of the calls from Bayside, Fox Point, Shorewood and Whitefish Bay.

Bayside

  • A homeowner in the 500 block of West Manor Court phoned the fire department Oct. 26 after a carbon monoxide detector started to sound. Fire officials determined there was no danger in the home and the alarm was likely due the residents leaving their stove on.

Fox Point

  • Students at Stormonth Elementary School, 7142 N. Longacre Rd., were evacuated Oct. 25 after a kindergartener pulled the fire alarm. Fire officials reset the alarm.
  • Fire officials responded to smoke coming from a home in the 700 block of East Daisy Lane Oct. 26. It turned out residents smoked up a room after heating some oil on the stove.

Shorewood

  • NFSD responded to a report of smoke Oct. 25 at Wells Fargo Bank, 4015 N. Oakland Ave., in Shorewood. The smoke was tracked to a crew cutting pipes on the floor above the bank.
  • One driver was transported to the hospital Oct. 26 after a two-car accident in the 4200 N. Oakland Ave.
  • One person was transported to a local hospital after a vehicle accident — including a Milwaukee County Transit Bus and car — occurred Saturday near the intersection of North Wilson Drive and East Capitol Drive.
  • Firefighters used 50 gallons of water to wash a large amount of blood from a sidewalk in the 3500 block of North Oakland Avenue Saturday.

Whitefish Bay

  • A fire alarm was set off after dust was kicked up by construction at Whitefish Bay High School, 1200 E. Fairmount Ave, Oct. 26. Firefighters helped reset the fire alarm in a 2nd floor bathroom. 
  • Residents in the 400 block of East Hampton Road reported a natural gas leak Oct. 27, but when officials arrived they couldn’t track down any gas smells.
