  • NSFD responded to a false fire alarm Jan. 6 at 5:41 p.m. in the 9100 block of North White Oak Lane. The company that manufactured the alarm had to be called to disable the alarm, as fire officials and the apartment manager couldn’t get it to reset.

Shorewood:

  • The residents of a home in the 1500 block of East Olive Street called NSFD on Jan. 7 after using a fire extinguisher to put out a fire that got a little out of control while burning in their fireplace. Fire officials advised the residents have their chimney inspected and cleaned. No injuries were reported.
  • A shorted-out wire on a stove prompted firefighters to shut down the gas to the oven at a home in the 3900 block of North Murray Avenue on Jan. 3. Fire personnel were on scene by 8:23 p.m. and dumped a small amount of water on the affected area. No injuries were reported.
