At 2 a.m. Tuesday, the victim picked-up Acevedo-Martinez because he was too drunk to drive and the two began arguing as soon as getting in the car. She took him back to her apartment in the 800 block of East Glendale Avenue and after parking her car he began to choke her.

Acevedo-Martinez then told her to call the police because he wanted to fight with them, but she convinced him to go into her apartment instead. While inside they continued to argue and the woman told him she would give him a ride to his home.

She later went to get her young child and after grabbing the child out of a crib, Acevedo-Martinez began to choke her again and forced her onto a couch where he continued to choke her.

Acevedo-Martinez admitted to police he had choked the victim, but said he only choked her “a little” and said “if I had choked her more I would have killed her.”

He’s currently being held in Milwaukee County Jail on $500 bail.
