Jewelry Store Owner Chases Down Thief

Police arrested a 31-year-old Brookfield Thursday after he allegedly ran out of Mixa Jewelers with a $785 piece of jewelry.

The owner of Mixa Jewelers in Shorewood chased down a 31-year-old Brookfield man Thursday after he allegedly ran out of the store with a $785 piece of jewelry.

Police say the owner of the jewelry store at 4320 N. Oakland Ave. agreed to take a 14kt. gold cross out of the case so the Brookfield man could take a photo of it. The man examined it for a few minutes before he ran out of the store, with the jewelry still in hand.

The owner ran after the man and wrestled the merchandise away.
