Franklin Woman Pleads Not Guilty to Heroin Charges After December Accident

In a mid-December car accident, police arrive to find a passed-out woman allegedly in possession of two heroin syringes.

A Franklin woman pleaded not guilty last week to a charge of possession of heroin after she confessed to using heroin back in mid-December, prior to a car accident near the intersection of East Capitol Drive and North Wilson Drive in Shorewood.

Krystal Hall, 19, waived her right to a preliminary hearing May 16 before pleading not guilty. In the Dec. 14 incident, she is alleged to have used heroin and then started driving westbound on East Capitol Drive, out of control on the wrong side of the road, and jumping over the curb through a construction zone, according to the criminal complaint.

The car came to a rest in the intersection of Wilson Drive and Capitol Drive and police responded to find Hall passed out behind the wheel, according to the criminal complaint. She told police she was in the area because she had to pick up some books at a friend's house and had just came from a local gas station. Police would later take her into custody and find two syringes containing what was later confirmed to be heroin inside of a brown-paper bag in her purse. A Suboxone pill, a prescription medication used to treat drug addiction, was also found in Hall’s possession by police, according to the criminal complaint.
