Drunken Vandal Trashes Bird House, Stop Sign, Windshield

Officers responded to a report of shots fired to find a man wielding a metal pole, police say.

Shorewood police responded to a report of shots fired early Sunday morning to instead find a 22-year-old Whitefish Bay man running around with a metal pole, damaging public and private property, according to a police report.

The Whitefish Bay man had uprooted a bird house from a yard near the intersection of North Sheffield Avenue and North Wilson Drive, stripped the wooden bird house from a metal pole and started smacking a stop sign several times, according to police. That's when a resident phoned police around 5 a.m. about shots being fired in the area.

The man would later work his way north to the 4300 block of North Wilson Drive where he allegedly smashed the windshield out of a 2002 Ford Mustang. An estimate of the damage isn't available yet, police say.
