Crime Time: Vehicle Break-Ins, Recovered Vehicle

A roundup of the latest from the Shorewood police reports.

Two vehicles were illegally entered in an apartment building’s secured parking structure in the 3900 block of North Oakland Avenue on Sunday night.

Police say the doors to the apartment’s lobby were pried open using an unknown tool and from there the doors to the parking structure were also pried open. The passenger side window of a 2008 Acura TSX and 2008 Honda Accord were busted out and doors damaged, however, nothing was stolen from the vehicles. Police are estimating $500 in damage to each vehicle.

  • Shorewood police helped recover a stolen vehicle Thursday after a man flagged down a Shorewood patrol and told the officer he believes a vehicle parked in his parking lot was stolen. Police ran the plates on the 1992 Toyota Camry and found it was reported stolen by West Allis police. After confirming with West Allis, the vehicle was towed and owner notified his car had been recovered. Police say they're not sure how the man knew the vehicle was stolen.
  • A 31-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested May 3 after allegedly attempting to obtain 120 oxycodone pills with a fraudulent prescription. A pharmacist at , 1421 E. Capitol Dr. called police after phoning the doctor who supposedly wrote the prescription and being notified it was a fraud.
  • A 28-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested after he allegedly stole a man’s bicycle outside of 4145 N. Oakland Ave. on Saturday. Surveillance video shows a Shorewood man leaving his bicycle unlocked outside the store and while he was shopping a suspect jumping on the bicycle and taking off, according to police. Police were able to identify the suspect because he used his Pick ‘n Save rewards card before leaving the store.
  • A 54-year-old Glendale man was arrested Sunday for retail theft after allegedly grabbing a boutique of flowers from 4027 N. Oakland Ave., and leaving without paying. Police say they have connected the man to a previous retail theft from the same store.
  • Approximately $3,000 in damage to a 2009 Pontiac G6 was reported May 3, after the owner found damage around the whole vehicle apparently caused by a key, while parked in a secure parking garage in the 4500 block of North Woodruff Avenue.
  • The resident of a home in the 4300 block of North Alpine Avenue reported two concrete planters stolen. Each planter was valued at $100.
