Crime Time: Unfriendly Raccoon, Battery, Marijuana Possession

A roundup of the latest from the Shorewood police reports.

A Shorewood woman was treated for a raccoon bite after the animal settled into her home in the 4500 block of North Marlborough Drive, June 6.

After a failed attempt by Whitefish Bay police to capture the raccoon with a trap, the woman called an exterminator who removed the animal. The woman was treated for rabies.

Police don’t know how the raccoon got into the home.

  • A 28-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested June 6 for battery after he slapped a woman who confronted him about littering outside of , 4156 N. Oakland Ave. Police say the man become aggressive and struck the victim on the right side of her face with an open hand after she confronted him for throwing a cigarette on the ground. 
  • Police were phoned Sunday after a 16-year-old Brown Deer boy vomited on a Milwaukee County Transit Bus at the intersection of North Oakland Avenue and East Capitol Drive. When police arrived, they smelled marijuana, and following a search, found the boy to be in possession of a marijuana cigarette. He was arrested for possession and violation of curfew, but later released to his mother. It’s still unclear what caused the boy to vomit on the bus.
  • A man attempted to have a fraudulent prescription for Oxycodone filled at , 1421 E. Capitol Dr., June 6. The doctor whose signature was apparently forged told the Thompson’s pharmacist he hadn’t written the prescription, but the suspect left before police could arrive.
  • A Shorewood man came into the police station Sunday to report that sometime between June 1 and June 5, a $150 Kenwood stereo system and $300 full-size motorcycle helmet was taken from her unlocked, tan Honda Civic 4-door, while it was parked in the parking garage in the 3900 block of North Murray Ave.
  • Walgreens decided not to press charges Wednesday after it recovered three bottles of laundry detergent a Shorewood man attempted to steal.
