Crime Time: Two OWIs; Man Threatens Elementary School Students

A roundup of the latest from the Shorewood police reports.

A 31-year-old Shorewood man was pulled over April 6 in the 4000 block of North Oakland Avenue for expired registration and police say he had glassy bloodshot eyes, smelled of intoxicates and slurred his speech. He would fail a sobriety test with a .15 blood alcohol content and was arrested for OWI.

Sunday, a 21-year-old Cottage Grove man was pulled over for speeding and running a flashing red light, when police say he smelled like intoxicates and slurred his speech. He was taken into custody by police for OWI and failed a sobriety test with a .19 BAC.

  • Police say ’s, 1600 E. Lake Bluff Blvd., principal called April 6 after a 53-year-old Shorewood man made profane and violent statements to several students. The students were bullying another student and he went and told the man.
  • Residents of an apartment building in the 3900 block of North Murray Avenue called police Friday after seeing a man discharge a fire extinguisher in the hallway of the building’s parking structure.
  • A Shorewood woman came into the police station to report her grandson’s iPod was stolen at , 1701 E. Capitol Dr., on April 6. According to police, officials at the high school know who stole the device and had it reported to the student, but the woman told police the iPod no longer worked. The high school wouldn’t disclose details to police about the incident. The value of the iPod is unknown.
  • Shorewood High School’s, 1701 E. Capitol Dr., assistant principal phoned police to investigate whether two students had been smoking marijuana April 6. The students denied using the illegal drugs and police turned the case back over to the high school police say.
  • The license plate was reported stolen off of a 2001 Hyundai Tiburon Sunday in the parking lot of , 4145 N. Oakland Ave.
