Crime Time: Stolen Bicycles, Party-goer Assaulted

A roundup of the latest from the Shorewood police reports.

Two bicycles were reported stolen from an open garage at a home on the 3900 block of North Murray Avenue.

A 2009 Jamis Ventura Sport bicycle and 1994 Trek Multitrack 700 bicycle were taken from the garage sometime between late afternoon on Friday and Sunday evening.

Later on Sunday evening, the owner of a home on the 1900 block of East Menlo Boulevard came home to find one of the stolen bicycles in the driveway and another on the lawn. The property was returned to the owners.

Also from the police reports:

  • Two men entered a home on the 3500 block of North Oakland Avenue on Saturday and beat up another man. The victim had significant injuries and had to seek treatment at a local hospital. Shorewood police said the victim said he was at a party in Milwaukee and may have gotten into an argument before returning to his home in Shorewood.
  • A man stole purses from elderly women on Saturday and then fled in a vehicle on East Glendale Avenue. He was later taken into custody on Tuesday by Milwaukee police for a separate robbery charge and operating a motor vehicle without owner consent. The two purses were valued at more than $100.
