Crime Time: Prescription Fraud, Welfare Checks

A roundup of the latest from the Shorewood police reports.

A 39-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested and cited for fraud Monday after he attempted to obtain  180 Oxycodone pills with a forged prescription. The pharmacist working at , 1421 E. Capitol Dr., recognized the false prescription and called police.

Also in the police reports:

  • Police conducted a welfare check Feb. 18 for a 42-year-old Milwaukee woman after police drove past and she appeared to be having a seizure while sitting in her vehicle on the 3500 block of North Oakland Avenue. After it became apparent she didn’t need medical assistance, and consented to a vehicle search, police found wrapped packages of crack cocaine inside. She was charged Thursday with possession of a controlled substance police say.
  • Six rings were stolen from a home on the 4100 block of North Lake Drive Wednesday. The home is currently for sell and has had several people in and out of the home within the last week.
  • Only a drivers manual and yellow notebook were taken when a vehicle parked in a alleyway in the 4000 block of North Stowell Avenue Wednesday was illegally entered. The vehicle owner said he left the vehicle unlocked and later found it with the door open.
  • Shorewood police responded Feb. 17  after receiving reports of an elderly man driving west in the eastbound lane of East Capitol Drive. Police tracked the man done in the 1200 block of the busy street, where he was parked in the road, facing oncoming traffic. The man was found to have low blood sugar and was transported to a local hospital by North Shore Fire Department.
  • Police checked on a elderly man walking down East Edgewood Avenue, Tuesday , after they spotted him wearing a winter coat, hat, gloves but only bicycle shorts. The man told police he doesn’t like to wear pants unless it's below 15 degrees.
