Crime Time: Possession of Marijuana, Walgreens Retail Theft

A roundup of the latest from the Shorewood police reports.

A 16-year-old Shorewood High School student was arrested Thursday for possession of about one gram of marijuana. Police arrested the student on school grounds and found the gram on his person after someone reported that the student smelled overwhelmingly of marijuana.

Also in the police reports:

  • A 45-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested Saturday for stealing $121.88 worth of items from at 4081 N. Oakland Ave. After the man left the store through the "in" doors, the store manager reviewed surveillance tape and called police. Police found the man at a bus stop on East Capitol Drive and North Newhall Street with the items he admitted to stealing: a tower fan, several packages of batteries and two pairs of boxers. The man has been found guilty for retail theft multiple times in Milwaukee County over the last 15 years.
  • An 18-year-old Shorewood man entered the Shorewood Police Department Thursday, complaining he felt ill after smoking a cigarette he bought individually for $1 from Citgo. He was checked out by a Northshore Fire Department ambulance crew and sent to St. Mary's Hospital. Shorewood Police are investigating the case.
  • Three Shorewood residents separately reported Thursday that their unlocked cars were broken into while parked in their driveways. A resident of the 4000 block of North Lake Drive reported an iPod, $10 in change and a cell phone charger were stolen. In the 3900 block of North Ridgefield Circle, a resident reported $80 stolen from a purse on the driver's seat. A resident of the 4000 block of North Richland Court reported that property in her car was moved but not taken.
  • A resident of the 3800 block of North Prospect Avenue told police Friday that a wrought iron patio chair was stolen from her backyard that morning.
  • A resident of the 3900 block of North Lake Drive told police Saturday that a spare tire was stolen from the trunk of her car sometime after May 11. She was not sure where the theft occurred.
