Crime Time: OWI, Retail Theft

A roundup of the latest from the Shorewood police reports.

A 30-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for operating while intoxicated Friday with a .14 blood alcohol content. He was originally stopped for running a stop light in the 3800 block of North Oakland Avenue and police observed the driver to have glassy bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and the smell of intoxicants. He failed a sobriety test.

Also in the police reports:

  • A resident in the 3900 block of North Farwell Avenue spotted a 40-year-old Milwaukee man trying the front door of a neighbor’s home and then walking down the driveway and return a short time later. The resident called police the suspect was located in the 1300 block of East Capitol Drive and arrested for trespassing. Police said the man may have had mental health issues.
  • A 21-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for retail theft after allegedly attempting to leave , 4145 N. Oakland Ave., with more than $95 in liquor. The man concealed four bottles of liquor inside a girdle he was wearing underneath his clothing and walked past the registers. He was stopped by security personnel and later taken into police custody.
  • University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee police found a 21-year-old man passed out on the side of the road in the 3500 block of North Downer Avenue on Thursday. Police say there was a house party nearby. The man was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital to get checked out.
  • A 20-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for retail theft after he allegedly stole two cans of Red Bull and one cane of Tinactin foot spray from , 4081 N. Oakland Ave., then made his way over to Pick ‘n Save, and concealed bottles of liquor in his waistband, made a small purchase and walked out of the grocery with $136 in liquor. Police found his allegedly stolen merchandise from Walgreens in a garage can outside of Pick 'n Save.
  • A Shorewood woman reported fraudulent charges of $780 on Walmart.com on her Mastercard credit card.
  • The homeowner of a residence in the 1700 block of East Olive Street reported a Peugeot single speed bicycle stolen from an open garage April 12.
  • A student’s Airsoft gun was taken away by school officials after he brought it to class April 12.
