Cat Posts, Urine and Bricks Thrown at Shorewood Homes

Retail theft and a stolen motorcycle were also reported to Shorewood police in the last week.

An odd vandalism spree hit Shorewood Friday night and Saturday morning.

During that time period:

  • Urine was thrown at the front door of a house in the 1000 block of Congress Street. The homeowner said they heard a large bang on the front door, then came out of the house and found urine on the front door and concrete step.
  • Someone threw a cat post at a house in the 4400 block of Woodburn Street.
  • A rock was thrown at a building in the 4600 block of Oakland Avenue, causing damage to the door of the building.
  • A brick was thrown at a garage in the 4500 block of Marlborough Drive.

In other Shorewood police news:
  • An unknown man, about 18 years old, entered a house in the 4300 block of Alpine Avenue through an unlocked screen door at 12:51 p.m. on Monday. When he encountered a child in the living room, he fled the area on foot. No words were exchanged, and nothing was stolen from the home.
  • A tablet computer was stolen from an unlocked car in the 3900 block of Murray Avenue between 12:01 a.m. and 5 a.m. on Friday. The tablet is valued at $390.
  • A motorcycle was stolen from an open garage in the 3800 block of Oakland Avenue sometime between 10 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. on June 13.
  • An unlocked bicycle was stolen from the Walgreens bike rack between 3:35 p.m. and 3:45 p.m. Friday.
  • A woman was cited for retail theft after she attempted to steal wine, wieners and goat cheese from Pick 'n Save at 6:17 a.m. Saturday. The merchandise was valued at $17.27.
  • An unknown man walked out of Walgreens without paying for a package of razor blades at about 4:41 p.m. on June 12.
  • An unknown suspect stole cigarettes and juice from Walgreens around 8:50 p.m. on June 11.
