Drug Addiction Drives Bakers Square Employee to Pilfer Cash from Register
The Milwaukee man was charged Saturday after telling investigators he probably stole $181 from the Shorewood restaurant because he's an addict.
A 26-year-old employee is facing charges after he allegedly stole money from the store in order to fuel his drug addiction.
Marco J. Ferreira, of Milwaukee, was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court Saturday with one count of embezzlement and one count of bail jumping. If convicted, he faces up to 18 months in prison and $20,000 in fines.

On Friday, Shorewood police officers were called to Baker’s Square after the manager noticed there was little money in the cash register, which she found odd. She checked video surveillance of the register and saw Ferreira taking money.
Officers apprehended Ferreira nearby with $181 on him. He said he probably took the cash because he’s an addict.

Ferreira has been turned over to the JUSTICE 2000 program for monitoring while awaiting trial.
