Woman Robbed in Shorewood Thursday Night

This is the third strong arm robbery on Maryland Avenue in the last three weeks.

A female was robbed Thursday night in the 3500 block of Maryland Avenue, marking that area's third robbery since the beginning of the month.

The victim told police that she was walking north on the sidewalk when she was approached by two men on bicycles. The suspects spoke to her briefly, and then stole her cell phone and fled southwest into Milwaukee.

Milwaukee police located the suspects a short time later, and after a foot chase, arrested one of the suspects and recovered the cell phone. The second suspect is still at large.

This is the third armed robbery in that area in recent weeks. The other two were carried out at 11:45 p.m. July 1 in the 3500 block of Maryland Avenue and at 10:49 p.m. July 3 in the 3400 block of Maryland Avenue.

Shorewood police are advising residents to pay attention to their surroundings when walking alone, and to call the police regarding any suspicious activity.
