Lately Target has been my "go to" for all things...from cute clothes (we have coupons!)...to toiletries...to home goods....to food. The deals are awesome!

Know what I discovered? More often than not, when dealing with a small, local business --- even those you find on the internet --- they'll give you a discount on almost anything if you ask for it. I almost always call before ordering anything online, and unless there are no other options, won't buy anything from a major retailer or anyone who makes me wait on-hold for an unseemly amount of time or won't let me speak with anyone with any measure of authority. With the economy in a state of outright disaster, the small businesses owned by your friends and neighbors need your support more than ever. Instead of jumping all over the deal Target spent $4.5 million to advertise, I suggest calling up a small business that carries the same product and asking if they can match or beat the big-box store's price.
Target Price: $58.65 Obscure Online Retailer: $36.95 Difference: $21.70 I can't speak for anyone else's budget, but I definitely didn't have an extra $21.70 plus gas expenses for something I could have gotten for a fraction of the price and had it delivered to me.
