Burglar Caught Red-Handed

Shorewood police are seeking criminal charges against a man who stole a leaf blower from an open garage Saturday morning.

Shorewood police tracked down and arrested a man who stole a leaf blower from an open garage Saturday morning.

The man allegedly entered an open garage in the 4200 block of Olsen Avenue at about 8:43 a.m. Saturday. When the resident confronted him about the leaf blower, the alleged burglar got in his car and fled eastbound through the alley.

The victim was able to get the license plate number and a physical description of the suspect. Police used that information to track down his home, where they seized his vehicle because it was used in the commission of a felony.

The man turned himself in at the police department the next day, where he gave them permission to search his vehicle. They found the leaf blower in the trunk of the car.

Shorewood police met with the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office seeking burglary charges against the man.
